The Think by Steelcase is another chair that aims to make configuring it straightforward. Although not as automated as some chairs it is uncomplicated in use.

It has a lever on the right underside which lets you select your preferred way of sitting. To begin with you will probably experiment with this, after this it’s automatic.

Its seat adjusts in depth, so to begin with you would move and lock it in the right position for you. Support on both the back and seat is provided by lateral wire flexors designed to form to your body shape. Think is environmentally friendly with 99% of its parts being recyclable.

The arms are highly adjustable for height, front to back and angling inwards, as well as being width adjustable when assembling the chair.

Amia won the ergonomic seating category gold award at NeoCon 2007. It’s clean lines conceal clever innovations included in the core of the chair. At first sight there doesn't appear to be a lumbar support, however this is built into the inside of the chair back. A pair of discreet levers at the sides of the chair back make it easy to set the back support up for individual user comfort.

Another great feature is the flexible seat front edge. This relieves pressure on the underside of your legs so you won’t find it digging into them.

It has a simple seat slide adjuster to enable people to achieve the right seat size for comfortable leg support. To help you recline naturally there is a tension adjuster conveniently placed on the right hand side. A few turns will soon increase or reduce the pressure needed to lean back in the chair.

It’s a well made chair that includes a 10 year warranty on pneumatic lift and mechanism and lifetime cover on structural components.

In keeping with the trend of making office chairs easier to use, the Chadwick definitely qualifies. Apart from adjusting the height, all you need to do is sit and let it handle the rest.

It makes a good choice whether you are tall or short. This is made possible by being able to select from 3 different sizes of gas height lifters at time of order.

Chadwick is made to be comfortable for long hours at a time and there are ways it’s able to achieve this. First it has what is known as an active suspension system and what this does is to give the chair a springy feel as you use it. This helps to make it less harsh than normal chairs.

Additionally, it has high quality specialist mesh fabric which also adds to its comfort throughout the day. And manufacturer Knoll is confident enough in the product to offer a 10 year 24/7 warranty.

Here’s a chair which was introduced 17 years ago, which might cause you to think it’s a bit old hat. Far from it, when HÅG designs products it does so for the long term and the fact that its H05 is still going strong is testimony to its success.

Whilst the adjustments aren't as automated as some more recent chairs, it’s very simple to set up. This is made possible by one control knob which sets 4 separate functions at once. As you turn the knob it varies the forward and rearward tilt pressure, back height and seat depth. All the user has to do is adjust things until your personal sweet spot is reached. Aside of this, the only other adjustment is seat height.

As confirmation of the class of this chair it comes with a 10 year 24/7 warranty and full lifespan cover on the gas lift.

The H04 has been around for many years now and is one of HÅG’s mid range series of office chairs. In keeping with its view on seating once you have the chair correctly configured you'll find the seat follows your every move.

It’s all part of the HÅG belief that the best sitting position is the next one. It refers to this as dynamic movement believing it is far better to keep moving while you work and help to keep your body active.

You may have found in the past when you come to adjust your chair it’s far from clear what all the levers and knobs do. This certainly won’t trouble you with the H04 because each lever has a color coded insert to help tell them apart. And every chair has a quick reference booklet showing which color controls which function.

Adjustment ranges are extensive making the seat suitable for pretty much all heights of user whether tall, medium or short.

Balt’s Ergo Ex chair has a lot of features for the cost. It’s most likely to suit people of standard or tall build and can support users up to 25 stones in weight.

The wide ranging adjustments are operated by typical desk chair levers and knobs. So you'll need to spend time configuring it to how you want it. However most of them don't need to be set again once you have things the way you want them.

The shaped back is finished in mesh and also has an inbuilt lumbar support, this can be slid up and down for personal comfort. Surprisingly the Ergo-Ex also has a built in headrest support, which is a bonus for those who like to recline a fair bit.

To keep costs down the chair is only available in black. Although this might seem limiting, it will go with most color schemes.

One slight negative is the chair only has 12 months warranty and for this reason we give it a 4 star rating out of 5.
