Knoll Lounge Sofa Review

Some of the best choices of sofa and lounge seats for guest seating are the classic designs from years gone by.

Knoll Sofa

The Knoll lounge range is a great example of just such a classic. Designed by Florence Knoll back in 1954 it still looks as modern and practical today as it did all those years ago.

She designed the lounge sofa because quite simply, at the time there just wasn't such a piece of furniture.

From the outset she set out to design a simple and practical piece of furniture and this really is its great strength.

It's just a really functional piece of furniture that does what was intended, to seat visitors and guests comfortably without ostentation.

As recently as 2002 the product was awarded the National Endowment for the Arts, National Medal of Arts.

So, let's look at the lounge range in more detail.

It comprises 3 pieces, the sofa which is a 3 seater, the settee which is a 2 seater and the single seat lounge chair.

All three are constructed around a solid wood inner framework with the seating element upholstered with no sag springs. The seat and back cushions and arm sections are made from quality foams, each designed for purpose. Seat and back cushions are tufted and include matching buttons if upholstered in leather.

The actual seating section is then supported on an exposed metal tubular framework which is finished in either polished or satin chrome. To allow for any unevenness in floor levels, each leg has an adjustable chromed glide so leveling your furniture is easy.

Dimensions

The overall dimensions for each piece in the range are as follows:

Sofa:

90-1/4 inches wide by 31-1/2 inches deep by 31-1/2 inches high overall, with seat height being 17 inches and arm height of 23 inches
